1) Research the company’s history

The key to the success of your project is having good quality electrical materials and cabling. If you choose an electrical wholesaler with no track record in the industry you could end up with sub-standard components that put your whole project in jeopardy.

2) Test how knowledgeable the staff are

Any electrical wholesaler is only as good as its staff. When you make initial contact with a prospective supplier, it’s wise to ask as many questions as possible of the staff to gauge how knowledgeable they are about products and the industry.

3) Ask what brands the wholesaler works with

Being able to source high quality and recognised brands at competitive prices is the mark of a good electrical wholesaler. If you’re quoted for brands you’ve never heard of then it could be in your best interests to find another wholesaler that can supply equipment from reputable and trusted manufacturers.

4) Don’t automatically choose the cheapest price

Following on from point three above, it may be tempting to try and save costs by choosing the cheapest quote you’ve received. However, if for example you get three separate quotes and one is much cheaper than the others, you should ask yourself why. It could be that the goods being supplied are not up to the standard you’d expect.

5) Always ask for references

As a matter of course, you should always ask to see references and if they’re not forthcoming then don’t hesitate to contact another supplier who is happy to show their feedback from other customers.
